ABOUT ME
Trained as an Asia specialist, Professor CY Hoon teaches social science courses on contemporary Asia and conducts research on the Chinese diaspora, multiculturalism, cultural politics and religious identity in Southeast Asia.
With the ascending prominence of Asia, Professor Hoon finds great enthusiasm in exploring the limitless possibilities this region offers to the global stage. A passionate advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion, he embodies a multilingual, multicultural perspective. Professor Hoon speaks English, Mandarin, Indonesian, Malay and several Chinese dialects.

Professor Hoon has almost 20 years of experience in tertiary education, including research, teaching and administration. His research has appeared in books, journal articles, book chapters, op-ed articles and commentaries. Beside teaching and research, Professor Hoon regularly speaks in international conferences, facilitates workshops and intercultural dialogue, organizes conferences and engages in consultancy with public and private organizations.
